shine your light

Let nothing dim the light that shines within...a beautiful quote by Maya Angelou.

Happy New Year to everyone! Now that the holidays are behind us and we are well into the Winter season, I'd like to reflect on my last blog about living in the present moment and what that means for each of us and how we can benefit from being in the moment. I'm sure we have all made some kind of goals or resolutions for this new year. I have made some goals too! I have an intention to embrace each day, to engage in whatever happens and to continue to grow as a healer, to uplift everyone in my world and hopefully outside of my little world too! Now is the time to find your light, your passion, your love and to spread it, let it shine! We have all come to this planet at this very time for a reason...we all made an agreement to be on the earth at this very moment and I like to think that now is the time, more than ever, to shine your light! I'm a firm believer that we all have different jobs when it comes to this...you can be an activist, a teacher, a healer or just being an example of pure love and light. Some of us need to be loud and some of us will be a quiet, peaceful light. All are needed at this time for different reasons. But now is the time to wake up and enjoy this beautiful life we have been given. Get up each day and have gratitude, find our passions and live! Over the next year, I'd like to share short stories of how I am shining my light and how I see others shining theirs. I will also be giving tips on how to stay connected to your light. Simple ways to encourage yourself and others! For the longest time, I've wanted to share yummy food recipes as well that are just fun....some nourishing and some naughty...we can't forget to indulge too! As many of you know I am vegan and I would love to share stories and recipes on how we can continue to strive towards a more compassionate life. I would love to hear stories of hope, encouragement and LOVE! Please feel free to comment and lets start a community here to encourage each other to live our best lives. Let's help each other! Let's share, let's laugh, let's cry and let's live in the moment together. I am really looking forward to being silly, creative and hopefully helpful in your journey to living your best life ever.

I want to give a HUGE thank you for your continued support with our Love and Let Live campaign. We were able to raise so much money for The Uplands Peak Sanctuary. Thank you for helping to feed and keep those sweet animals warm for the winter. The amazing people at the sanctuary are doing some pretty great work and I thank them for what they do. If you haven't checked them out, please do at

The Uplands Peak Sanctuary. We are working on our next organization to help out...stay tuned for more information! We are also currently working on a new space for Healing Sacred Space. We are hoping to be complete by early February. If you are close and would like to book a healing session, please contact me. I am really looking forward to starting up my practice again. If you are living far from Bloomington, IN, I also offer distance sessions....don't hesitate to contact me. I am excited to see how much more we can expand and grow in 2018!

Glowing Spiced Lentil Soup

Ok....this is the first recipe I have to share.....you can find the recipe at Oh She Glows Blog. I have made this 3 times now and it is the perfect soup for these cold winter days! It's super easy, warm, cozy, healthy AND it's a compassionate recipe that you can feel good about eating. In fact, we are having it for dinner tonight! I can't wait because it's 6 degrees out with a windchill of -8! We need some cozy soup that will warm us up. I did make a few additions...I added some carrots, broccoli, kale, zucchini and a potato. I wanted it super hearty. I think any veggies you have hanging around the kitchen will be great in here. Let me know if anyone makes it and what you thought! Here's the link to her site and be sure to check out her other recipes too! Happy cooking:)

Much Love,

Trista
